Mr. and Mrs. White of Ely Street have been notified by the Warley Infantry Record Office that as no further news has been received of their son who was posted as missing after an engagement in France on November 11th last it has concluded that he is dead. Sergeant White was at one time the manager of the Stratford branch of the Empire Meat Company and subsequently transferred to the Tring branch. He joined the Bedfordshire Regiment about two and a half years ago. Towards the end of 1915 he was wounded and brought to Manchester where he remained for six months under medical treatment. On his discharge from hospital he spent a few days at home and then went to Rochester to give musketry instruction. He returned to the front nearly a year ago.
