The memorial was unveiled on Sunday 26 June 1921 by Field Marshall Lord Methuen G.C.B. and dedicated by the Lord Bishop of Coventry, Huyshe Wolcott Yeatman-Biggs.

The memorial was designed by Sir Charles Nicholson, Bart., the stonework was carried out by Mr. David French and the construction was supervised by Mr. Charles Hope of Berkswell

A LIEUTENANT IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY DURING THE GREAT WAR
HE WAS MORTALLY WOUNDED WHILST SERVING IN FRANCE
AND DIED AT MARICOURT ON JUNE 27.1916
