Circumstances of Death

James died from gunshot wounds to his right side on 4th August 1917 at the 66th St. John's Ambulance Brigade Hospital in Rouen. His service shows that James as wounded on 25th July 1917.

Unfornately the 174th Brigade war diary entries for the months of July and August are missing and therefore we are unable to say where and how James was wounded.
