Circumstances of Death

Sidney died of wounds on 25 August 1915 aboard HM Hospital Ship Arcadian which was near Gibraltar. He was buried at sea and later commemorated on the Helles Memorial. It has not yet been possible to identify when Sidney was wounded but it would have been sometime on or after 5th August 1915 when the Battalion landed, without incident, at Anzac. The 8th Battalion war diary can be found on Ancestry.co.uk but it contains no details, at all, about casualties.
