George is listed as died of his wounds on 6 Nov 1914. The brief war diary entry, transcribed below, indicates that he died the same day as he was wounded by enemy shell fire:5/11/914 - Danoutre - Battalion marched to Ypres and took up a position about 4 miles ESE [East South East] holding 350 yards of trenches and relieving the 2nd Bedfordshire Regt. These trenches were just south of the 6th kilometre stone on the Menin Road.
