Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

On 9th July 1916 the battalion up to Pommiers Redoubt in prepartion for an attack on Mametz Wood the following day. At 4.45am on the 10th July 114th Brigade launched the attack an that lasted for over 2 days and ended in the early hours of the 12th July. Arnold died at some stage during the period 10th to 12th July. The CWGC always uses the last known date men could have been killed.
