CWGC states "attached to 7th (Queens Own) Hussars"

Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

All of Wilfred's military records that I have found give his Regiment at the 7th Gloucestershire but at the time of his death in India the 7th Bn were in Iraq. However the 7th Hussars, to whom who the CWGC alone state Wilfred was attached, were in Meerut from 1911 to Oct 1917 when they left for Mesopotamia. There are a number of other 7th Hussars buried near Wilfred including one who died two days previously. It is not known how or why Wilfred died as his records do not record it. Wilfred was at Gallipoli and the 7th Bn Glosters was nearly wiped out at the Battle of Chunuk Bair. It is not known how he got there or why he was in India.
