Circumstances of Death

Harry is listed as dying of wounds on 16 Apr 1918 and he was buried at Lapugnoy Cemetery. * Although we cannot be 100% certain we believe he died at 18th Casualty Clearing Station which was using Lapugnoy for its burials in April in 1918.

The casualty list in the war diary indicates Harry was wounded on the 14th or 15 April 1918 because there where only 7 other ranks listed as being wounded between 1st and 14th April and only 1 on the 16th whereas on the 14th there were 12 and on the 15th 180. The war diary for the 14th and 15th April 1918 is transcribed below.
