Stratford Herald, Friday 17th May 1918 - KILLED IN ACTION GUNNER H. S. WING

News has come through of the death of Stan Wing, a gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery, who will be remembered by many in Stratford as the exceedingly popular manager for a number of years of the London Central Meat Stores. He was a fine type of man, and by his character as well as his genial disposition, he
set a high standard of an honest purposeful life. This he has given for his King and country. He was killed instantaneously on April 29th at his gun and the messages that have come through to the bereaved mother showed that Gunner Wing had a capital military record, and could be relied on by those in authority over
him.

The sincere sympathy of all who were acquainted with Gunner Wing will go out to the widowed mother at Rushden, who has now lost two sons in the great struggle.
