The 1st/7th Battalion war diary entries for the 26th to 28th August are transcribed below: St. Julien Sector - Aug 26th 1917: C & D Coys took up a position in rear of our post line during the night to be ready for an attack on Springfield Farm line in conjunction with 8th Bn R War R and attacking battalions on right and left. St. Julien Sector - Aug 27th 1917: Attack started at 2pm D Coy captured Springfield and handed it over to 8th Bn Worcester Regt who relieved them. The details of A Coy & a portion of B Coy relieved from the line on 27th by 8 R War R went by train to Poperinghe. Poperinghe - Aug 28th 1917: C & D Coys rejoined remainder of Bn at Poperinghe. |
