- William was a Sergeant in C Company
Circumstances of Death
| William is listed as dying of wounds on 19th August 1916. We have not been able to find any information, records or newspaper reports about his death or how and when he was wounded. One record shows him as being killed in action but that does not tally with him being buried at Wimereux which about 150 kilometers from where the 11th Battalion was stationed at the time near Bazentin, which is on the Somme. Wimereus is on the coast near Boulogne and was home to numberous militiary hospitals. |
