Circumstances of Death

Albert is listed as being killed in action on 25th September 1918, which is confirmed by a casualty list in the 16th Battalion war diary. However the war diary does not contain an entry for the 23rd to 25th, the days prior and subsequent to the 25th are transcribed below.

Voormezeele 21/22nd Sept 1918: The Bn relieved the 14th Bn A & S H in the Bde sector Voormezeele. A & B Coys in the Front Line, C Coy in support, D Coy in reserve in Scottish Wood.

Ouderdom 26/27th Sept 1918: The Bn was relieved in the line by 6th Bn Wilts Regt and 14th Bn A & S H. On relief BN HQ, A, B & D Coys marched to Ouderom. C Coy marched to Dickiebusch Bund
