Original Enlistment
From his service number, 12250, we can say that Adam enlisted between 8 Jan 1910 & 31 May 1911 when numbers 12064 & 12458 were issued.
Circumstances of Death

Adam is listed as being killed in action on 19th June 1915. The 2nd Battalion war diary reveals that he was shot by a sniper and the diary entry is transcribed below. 19th June 1915: The day passed off very quietly until about 5.30pm when the enemy sent some shrapnel into the village of Vermelles. This was followed by some 5.9 Howitzer shells which fell close to Battn Headquarters. 3 Signallers were wounded - 1 seriously and 2 slightly. Corpl Edgar killed by sniper. The Battalion was relieved in the trenches by 2/H.L.I. Relief started at 6pm and complete by 9pm. Battalion after relief marched to billets in Noyelles les Vermelles arriving there are 10pm. |
