Circumstances of Death

Elias is listed as being killed in action on 2 Nov 1918. The 1st/8th Battalion war diary entry for that day is very brief and we have transcribed the period 1st to 3rd Nov below in order to show the overnight periods for 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd.

Le Faux - 1/11/18: The Battalion was holding the left sector of the Divisional Front with C Coy on the right, D Coy of the left, B in support and A as counted attack company.

Le Faux - 2/11/18: Dispositions remained unchanged and the day was quiet, there was a little patrol activity at night.

Le Faux - 3/11/18: Owing to the rainy weather the forward companies were relieved, A Coy taking over the right and B Coy the left. The day was uneventful. END
