Circumstances of Death

We have been unable to find a death record for William between the date of his discharge from the Army and the unveiling of the Warwick School Memorial. We know that he was discharged from the army on 10 Aug 1918 as a results of wounds incurred, we believe in 1916 as on 30 Dec 1916 he was admitted to the Queen Mary's Military Hospital, Whalley, Lancs. There is evidence that the Army "mislaid" William as there is correspondence between his brother and the War Office seeking Williams whereabouts. On his discharge he was given Silver Badge number 434095.

The Warwick School memorial was unveiled in 1926 and William's name is added out of sequence towards the end of the list of names. There is a Pension record which records his address in 1921 as being in Sparkbrook (see below). It is possible that he was added to the Memorial by mistake.

There is a death record in Birmingham of a William Robert Bush born 1895 who died on 10 Aug 1960 at Birmingham General Hospital of Cerebal Embolism, Mydocaridal Infaction, Nephrotic syndrome and Diabetes Mellitus. His widow is listed as B.L. Bush of 230 Chinnbrook Road, Birmingham. He said to have been a retired Ominbus Driver. The 1939 Register shows William living at the same address with Beatrice L. Bush.

We have found the Marriage record for William R. Bush and Beatrice L. Waring in the Jul Qtr of 1921 in Kings Norton district.

Beatrice Louisa Waring was born in Birmingham in 1899 and Baptised there on 29 Mar 1899.

Without evidence to the contrary we believe that William surviving the war and may have been considered to have died as he moved away from the Warwick area to Birmingham, as evidenced by his Army pension card which records his address as 61 Chesterton Road, Sparkbrook.
