Circumstances of Death

Frank is listed as being killed in action on 18 Sep 1915, just prior to the Battle of Loos. The brief 6th Battalion war diary entries for the period 4th to 20th Sept 1915 are transcribed, in full, below.

Reninghelst 4/9/1915: Battn handed over to 8 S. Staffs Reg and retired to rest. Very wet. Right Coys delayed by bad roads. Go with a? new bivouac where most of the Battn are in huts.

Trenches near Reninghelst 12/9/1915: Take over from 8 S. Staffs Reg. Good weather throughout this time and work on Comm Trenches progresses rapidly. Lt. C.K. Homan is killed 18/9/1915.

Trenches near Reninghelst 20/9/1915: 8 S. S. Rgt take over trenches & Battn returns toReninghelst. Nothing of interest to report. END
