Circumstances of Death

John is listed as being killed in action on 25 Sep 1918. His register of effects states that he was killed in Bulgaria.

The war diaries for the Salonika Campaign are not available online and there is little information found on the internet.

The book, Under the Devil's Eye: The British Military Experience in Macedonia, 1915–18 by Alan Wakefield and Simon Moody tells us that on 24 September, 1918, 78th Brigade, of which the 11th Worcester's were a part, were near the village of Izlis which was on the border of Serbia and Bulgaria.

We are still trying to obtain more information about the events of the 25th.
