Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

John is listed as dying of wounds on 21 July 1917. Unfortunately the war diary is missing the months of Jul and Aug 1917 and we cannot therefore investigate when and how he was wounded. However his burial place was used by Field Ambulances as opposed to Casualty Clearing Stations or Hospitals and it is likely he died soon after he was wounded during the days leading up to the Third Battle of Ypres. See our article about The Chain of Evacuation - Treatment Process for a better explanation
