Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

Frederick is listed as dying of his wounds on 9 May 1917 and was buried at Douai Communal Cemetery which at that time was in German hands having been taken in 1914 and remained in German held territory until 1918.

Red Cross records reveal that Frederick was taken prisoner on 8 May 1917 at Arras and died of wounds to the abdomen at St Clotilde, a German military hospital in Douai.
