Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

It is not known for certain on what day Arthur was wounded but the most likely is the 24th or 25th August 1916 when the battalion were in the front lines at Delville Wood and suffered 76 wounded other ranks in fighting with the enemy. He was taken to either the 36th, 38th or 2nd/2nd London Casualty Clearing Station which all used Heilly Station for their burials.
