Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

A war diary has not yet been found but he was killed near Proven, probably at the rail head there which was on the Bergues-Proven-Boesinghe line operated by 6th Australian Broad Gauge Railway Operating Company. On the day he died the railhead was shelled and his name is mentioned by CWGC as one of 3 British soldiers killed there.
