Circumstances of Death

Cyril is listed as being killed on 6th July 1917 while attached to 62nd Trench Mortar Battery. However we have looked at the war diaries for both the 10th Battalion & 62nd Trench Mortar Battery and neither give any details or clues as to how Captain Butcher died and they are transcribed below.

62nd TMB - Vaulx - July 5th to 7th 1917: "Nothing to report"

10th Bn - 7 Jul 1917: - No operational details given and Captain Butcher not named.
