Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

Frederick died of wounds at the 1st Canadian General Hospital in Etaples on 21 Jan 1916. Etaples is on the west coast of France and he would have been transported there. We have not establishes when he was wounded and the war diary shows that the battalion were in the Poperinghe area in December 1915 and January 1916 with men being wounded on an almost daily basis.
