Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The battalion were in the front lines at Croix du Bac when they came under attack from advancing German forces and were forced to withdraw towards Steenwerck Railway Station and the Germans then proceeded to attack that position forcing a further withdrawal of about 300yrds. Charles was killed during this action.
