Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

The battlalion war diary shows that on 1st Sept 1918 they had relieved the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in the line from Neuve Eglise running from map points T.14.d.3.9 to T.20.a.2.8. At 7am on the 2nd the battalion pushed foward the line along ther road from Neuve Eglise to Nieppe. At midday C company were orderd to enter Neuve Eglise village friom the NE and clear out remaining German troops. This was achieved and at 8pm they had pushed forward to the blue line which was between T.10.c.0.6 to T.16 central. George was killed during these actions along with 10 other men and 93 were wounded.
