Name at Enlistment

Alec's birth was registered as Alec Stuart Franklin but he enlisted as Alec Stuart. Franklin was his mothers last name. We were unable to find his father and we know that Alec was an "illegitimate" child. His next of kin in Army records is his Aunt Maud M. Franklin and his CWGC Headstone (see below) was organised by Mr. R.J Franklin of Perry View, Alveston.

His Soldiers who died in the Great War entry lists his birth place and current residence as Alveston.
