Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
Between the 1st and 5th August 1917 the Battalion were in the front line trenches at Westhoek Ridge, near Westhoek. The war diary is very faded and difficult to read but it seems that they spent the entire time in a defensive capacity and suffered over 120 casualties, one of whon was Frank, due to enemy artillery shelling.
