Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

It is believed that Charles was wounded on the 9th Oct 1917 during the successful attack on Houthoulst Forest by the Guards Division and he died the following day at the No 4 Casualty Clearing Station at Westvleteren.
