The war diary states that on the day Aaron was killed in action the battalion was engaged in assisting Royal Engineer working parties in the trenches at near Fampoux. Places mentioned are Greenland Hill and Chemical Works which are plotted below. The diary makes mention, whatsoever, of enemy action or casualties between 1st and 4th Oct.
