Circumstances of Death

 

Major Edwards is listed as being killed in action on 27th September 1918. The short 15th Battalion war diary entry for that day is transcribed below.

Front Line – Haplincourt –1918 Sep 27th: The attack is carried out om a three Company front with B Coy on the right, A in the centre and C on the left with D Coy in reserve.

5.20.am Zero Hour

15th R. War. R attack at Zero plus 152. Battalion attack and gain objective but is obliged to retire.

Casualties:
Officers Killed 3 (inc M.O) & Wounded 5. I wounded since died.
Other Ranks: Killed 36, Wounded 95, Missing 29. Wounded at Duty 2.
