Major Edwards is listed as being killed in action on 27th September 1918. The short 15th Battalion war diary entry for that day is transcribed below. Front Line – Haplincourt –1918 Sep 27th: The attack is carried out om a three Company front with B Coy on the right, A in the centre and C on the left with D Coy in reserve. 5.20.am Zero Hour 15th R. War. R attack at Zero plus 152. Battalion attack and gain objective but is obliged to retire. Casualties: Please note that the Operational Orders (No 133) for this attack were written by Major Edwards and it was most likely the last Military document that he authored. |
