Circumstances of Death

William was hospitalised in France on 5 May 1916 and then invalided back to a Military Hospital in Edinburght from where he was Honourably Discharged from the army on 9 Jun 1916 suffering with Tuberculosis following a report from a medical board held on the 24 May 1916. He then stated in his army records that he would be residing at 3 Newland Street, New Bilton.

At some stage he moved to Anstruther, where his brother in law resided, and where he died of Influenza on 12 Oct 1918.
