Reyersburg Camp - St Julien area - Aug 26/27: Moved into position North & South of St. Julien - Winnipeg Road, C.12.d.5.5 & dug in. Attacked at 1.55pm enemy postion at Winnipeg Farm & Cemetery C.12.d.8.0 - D.7.a.2.8. Advance impossible due to the state of ground and fire from Machine Guns & Snipers in concrete emplacements. Capt Baxter, 2/Lts Austin & Farringdon killed. Capt Partridge MC & 2/Lts Williamson MC & Spencer wounded, 2/Lt Betts sick Relieved by 1/4 Royal Berks about 10pm [27th] |
