- Originally buried at Ellignies St. Anne in German Occupied Belgium
Circumstances of Death
|
Harold is listed as dying on the 23rd October and he was originally buried at Ellignies St. Anne which is SE of Hainault, Belgium and was in German Occupied Territory. An enquiry made of the Red Cross in November 1918 mentions that he went missing on 14 Oct 1918 and that at the time he was attached to a Light Trench Mortar Battery/Battalion. We know that he cannot have been with the 5th Battalion Bedfordshire at the time of his death as they were in Palestine in 1918, which is confirmed by the Battalion War Diary. As yet we do not know where he was serving at the time of his death, but we are still making enquiries. |
