Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The battalion were in the trenches when they are were ordered to attack and capture enemy positions at Judge Copse and Cemetery. The actions took two days but the objective was eventually secured with the assistance of the 9th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment. The battalion took over 300 casualties during the action before they were relieved by an unknown unit.
