Circumstances of Death

  • 21 May 1915 - Wounded in the knee by shrapnel from a Rifle Grenade near Ploegsteert and admitted to 2nd South Midland Field Ambulance
  • 10 Jun 1915 - Operation on knee at No 3 Casualty Clearing Station in École des Filles, Bailleul
  • 12 Jun 1915 - Admitted to No 1 General Hospital at Etretat, France
  • 26 Jun 1915 - Transferred to Convelescent Camp in Havre
  • 26 Jun 1915 - Transferred to Base Depot in Havre
  • 07 Sep 1915 - Transferred to England
  • 18 Sep 1915 - Discharged from the Army
Alfred survived the war and died aged 62 in Jan Qtr 1953 in Bromsgrove District
