Circumstances of Death

Arthur is listed as being killed in action on 21st October 1918. The 10th Battalion war diary entries for the period 19th to 22nd are transcribed below.

Front Line - Haussy – 20.10.18: The Battalion took part in  the attack to capture the high ground East of the River Selle. Zero at 0200 hrs. Final objective reached at 0600 hrs. No of prisoners 35, casualties slight.

Leave: 1 OR proceeded on leave
Draft: 70 OR (2 rejoining) joined Battalion
Casualties:      Capt H.R. Blewett died of wounds
                      Lt W. Kentist wounded
                      2nd Lt A.H. Church? Wounded

Front Line - 21.10.18: Battn consolidated the positions gained. Intermittent shelling – chiefly with gas.

Front Line - 22.10.18: Very quiet. E.A. very active during morning. Slight shelling in afternoon
