Original Enlistment

Patrick enlisted in the Warwick Royal Horse Artillery Territorials sometime between 5 May 1912 and 22 Feb 1913 when service numbers 276 and 321 where issued.

Circumstances of Death

Patrick is listed as being killed in action on 4 May 1917. The 15th Brigade war diary lists him, by name, as having been killed on 5 May 1917.

The war diary merely states "614049 Fitzgerald killed". From other sources we know that the Brigade were in the Tilloy area and between the 3rd and 5th of May 1917 they were in the front lines and were subject to a heavy bombardment of gas shells which caused many casualties across the front lines.
