  • 04 Mar 1913 - Enlisted in Royal Navy as a Cadet on HMS Stork
  • 31 Dec 1914 - Appointed Temporary Midshipman
  • 13 Mar 1915 - Transferred to HMS Hampshire
  • 06 Sep 1915 - Transferred to HMS Morris
  • 30 Jun 1916 - Commissioned as Acting Sub-Lieutenant
  • 31 May 1916 - Fought in Battle of Jutland and mentioned in despatches (Honour Sheet) for his actions operating a forward 4" gun
  • 28 Feb 1917 - Confirmed in position of Sub-Lieutenant
  • 05 Jun 1917 - Discharged as medically unfit due to Tuberculosis of the Lungs

Circumstances of Death

Charles died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis on 24th May 1918 at his home in Whitchurch, Hampshire.
