Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

War diary shows that 1 officer and 100 men were sent to Voornezeele to act as stretcher bearers during an attack by other units and subsequently to the Advanced Dressing Station at Larch Wood. On this day casualties were 10 wounded and 3 missing including Charles.
