Percy is listed as being killed in action on 23 Jul 1917. The Battalion War diary entry for the day, which doesn't give any information about how he was killed, it transcribed below.
 
Kenora Camp, Westoutre 23.7.1917:- The Battalion paraded in the evening for a practice in forming up tapes. During the morning Coys held a kit inspection to see that they were perfectly ready to go into action. General Gordon and Captain Pragnell were killed today near the Bluff. Weather fine. End
