We believe that an error was made in the Roll of Honour and that Lorenzo Wincott was man being remembered not Thomas Wincott.

  1. We did find a Private 26775 Thomas George WINCOTT of Stockton who enlisted in December 1915 but Army Pension records show that he was discharged from the army on 30th June 1916 because his feet were badly deformed and he could not walk properly. Although the Warwickshire Roll of Honour book lists him as being the Thomas named on the memorial he never served aboard and he did not die until Jan Qtr 1946 at Warwick aged 60.
  2. Lorenzo's father was also called Thomas Wincott but he died in Jan Qtr 1914.
