Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
On 14 Nov 16 the 11th Battalion, moved into position to carry the planned attack on Frankfort Trench. An intelligence failure let to the battalion being wrongly told the 2 Bn KRRC's had captured Munich Trench. The caused the attack was to be held up by German machine gun and resulted in a retirement to Minden Trench.
The following day, 15 Nov 1916 the battalion was ordered to support an attack on Munich Trench by the 8th Bn East Lancs and 10th Bn Loyal North Lancs. As was the case the previous day Munich Trench was being defended in strength and again forced a retirement, this time to Leave Trench and the Wagon Road where the battalion reorganised under the cover of darkness. By the end of these actions the battalion had suffered losses of 32 dead including Albert who is listed as being killed on 15 Nov 1916.
