Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

We think that William was wounded between the 11th and 15th July at Mametz Wood when the battalion were involved in its capture and the subsequent consolidation of the gains made. He died of those wounds at the XV Corps Main Dressing Station, Becordel-Becourt which was the only medical unit using the Dartmoor Cemetery for burials.
