Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The war diary has not been found but it is known that the 50th Trench Mortar Battalion was attached to 50th (Northumberland) Division. During the period, 14th February and 2nd March 1916, the enemy carried out a number of attacks on the 50th Division who were stationed in the lines on the Ypres Salient. The area was known as Hellfire Corner.
