  • The personal information for Robert is confusing. The CWGC gives his age at death as 28 which would make his year of birth 1890/1
  • His first name is given as Robert but birth and baptism records give us Edwin Robert and Edward Robert. It seems he dropped the use
of first name Edward around 1912 and used only Robert.
  • The key to the information given about is the cross referencing of his Service number with the Hussars as 15824 in both pre-war and
WW1 records which leaves us certain of his identity and speculating that he lied about his age on his enlistment in 1910 when he said
he was 18 but his birth record suggests his age was 16.
