Circumstances of Death

Thomas is listed as being killed in action on 7th October 1917. Unfortunately we are unable to find a war diary for the 171st Company and it is unlikely that one exists as Labour Corps units were not required to keep them, except in certain circumstances.

The 171st Company was formed with men from the 9th (Labour) Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment in 1917 under Army Council Instruction 611 of 1917.
