Circumstances of Death

Arthur contracted Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) whilst on active service in the Mesopotamia Theatre. He became dangerously ill on 3 Apr 1917 before being declared Out of Danger on 30 Jun 1917. On 17 Aug 1917 he was returned to England. On 24th September 1917 he appeared before a Medical Board who found that he was permenantly and totally incapcitated and required treatment in a Sanatorium and on 15th October 1917 he was discharged from the Army and given Silver War Badge number 134,482.

Arthur died of TB in the family home, 13 Leam Street, Leamington Spa, on 21 Jul 1918.
