Leamington Courier Obituary
Official information has been received that Sergt William Henry Feasey, Lancashire Fusiliers of 2 Jackson Buildings, Rugby Road, Leamington was killed in action on the 10th last.
His captain writes to Mrs. Feasey "It is with deep regret that I have to write to inform you of your husband's death. He was hit while going down a trench with a party of men about 9.45 on the night of the 10th. Two other men were hit at the same time, but not seriously. It will, I hope, be of some comfort to know that death was instantaneous and he thus avoided any suffering. He was be sadly missed by all of his friends in the company, as he had been with them so long and was liked by everyone."
Having served in the South African war (for which he held a medal with five bars) Sergt Feasey was placed on the Reserve and at the outbreak of the present war he was drafted to the Front where he did good work. He had been gassed and was a victim of shell shock.
He was nearly 35 years old and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H Feasey of 4 Garden Place, Leamington. He was a keen pidgeon fancier and won several prizes while a member of the Star & Garter Hotel Homing Society. He leaves a widow and one child.
