Circumstances of Death

William was at or in the 7th Canadian General Hospital at Etaples when it was bombed in an infamous raid by the Germans on 19th May 1918. He was wounded by the bombing and remained in the 7th Canadian General Hospital at Etaples. On 2nd June 1918 he was then transferred to the 1st Southern General Hospital in Monyhill, Birmingham where he died on 8th June 1918 of Thrombosis of the Leg.
