The war diary for that day is transcribed below.Ovillers - 18th - In trenches: Took part in attack with 1/5th R War R and 4th R Berks Rco-operated on right. Held up for a short time on right by German strong post but soon succeeded in taking whole objectives capturing 6 officers and 245 other ranks including large number of N.C.O.s.
Casualties Capt R C Lowe; 2nd Lt A.J.B Pearson; Lt C.J,. Crocket; 2nd Lt H.S. Skillington; 2nd Lt Lomax; 2nd Lt Phaggo killed. Capt B Hargreave, 2nd Lt Seddon & 2nd Lt Shelton wounded. O.R. 23 killed 90 wounded and 10 missing. END
